This Tahaffuz
Sunnat (Protection of Sunnah)
Conference of Indian Muslim Ulama expresses its firm belief that the Sahaba (may Allah be pleased with them) are the stars of
guidance. As their riwayah
(narrations) are binding as authority, similarly their dirayah (explanations of the Quran
and Hadith) are models for Muslim Ummah. The issues
which witnessed consensus of the Sahaba are binding
and it is unlawful to go against them. While in the cases in which they differ,
we believe that the truth is confined in their views and it will be folly to cross
the circle of their opinions. Likewise, it is deviation to go against the issues
which are agreed upon by all the four Imams; Imam Abu Hanifa,
Imam Malik, Imam Shafi’i
and Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy upon them).
The Conference deems it necessary
to declare that the academic and religious services rendered by the Imams, Fuqaha and Muhaddithin are priceless
assetd for Muslims which guarantee our betterment,
prosperity and success. This Conference of Indian Ulama feels that the enemies
of Islam, especially Europe and United States, are trying every nerve to narrow
down the area of Muslim influence. In such a turbulent and troublesome time, the
Muslim World should have strongly fought this aggressive move of the enemies, but
the Ghair Muqallidin (those
who deny Taqleed) have instead opened front against Muslims
only and are struggling to declare them kafir. It is more regretful that
the Saudi Government is supporting the fanatic Ghair Muqallidin by all means. The ‘Tau’iyat al-Jaliyaat’ under
Ministry of Islamic Affairs is vigorously campaigning against Muslims
especially the elder Ulama of Hanafis. The Saudi
Govt. which contributed greatly in past to the unity of Muslim Ummah is now causing
disputes and rifts among Muslims. As this tendency of the Saudi Govt. is injurious
to Muslim unity, in the same way it is not going to yield good results for the Kingdom.
